Matthew 4:19 And He said to them, “Follow Me and I will make you fishers of men.”

I want to encourage all of you at Harvest to come out to evangelism training on Saturdays.

You can see the implication in scripture is that when Christ saves someone He continues to work in them by conforming them into His image, “fishers of men”. Do you fish for lost souls?

Fishing is the business we “Christians” are to be about. If you are not baiting your hook, casting into the waters and enticing sinners to be saved you might need to inspect the boat and talk to the captain of the ship!

Jesus said, “He will make us fishers of men”. Do you fish?

Fish do not catch fish. Fishermen catch fish.
Sinners do not win souls. Saints win souls.
If we march in Satan’s army we have no hope to defeat it.

Evangelism starts with your soul. Let me ask you, is it well with your soul? If it is bait your hook and throw out the line … Come fishing with us Saturdays at 11:00.

True Church Conference 2009 continued …

•February 20, 2009 • 2 Comments

WOW … all I can say is praise be to God for His grace, His glory, His sovereignty and most of all His Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The True Church Conference is underway! Over 1000 in attendance and Conrad Mbewe preached the first message last night, “The Radical Depravity of Man.” You can hear the message at www.sermonaudio.com.

I have read, quoted and studied Romans chapter 3:9-18, but never have I heard it preached in such a way! The Word of God is truly amazing and ever impacting our lives for the glory of God. The statement in this message that affected me the most is “we (Christians / Church) do not see the reality (spiritual warfare) of what we are up against.

Brother Conrad really drove home the point that human beings are incapable of saving themselves, but not only incapable, apart from His grace they are HOSTILE enemies of God. We fail in our evangelistic efforts to realize this and oh my friends we so desperately need to recover the preaching of the truth of the Word of God.

Today we were privileged to hear the preaching and sit under the teaching of Pastor Jeff Noblit, Senior Pastor-Teacher of Grace Life Church of the Shoals (the home church of the conference). Brother Jeff preached “Grace Wrought Repentance”. The two wings by which born again believers fly … repentance and faith. Amen.

Brother Jeff brought the truth of the Word in really showing that repentance and faith are inseperable graces of God. He also said that the Word and the Spirit of God are te agencies for repentance … that is to bring men to repentance. The Word is a hammer … the Word is fire … to bring about the miracle of God. The Holy Spirit is the “active agent” (third person of the trinity and sovereign) … we are just organ pipes and God provides the wind!

We also heard from brothers Jonathan Sims, Paul Washer and Voddie Baucham … equally God centered preaching … praise the Master for His ministers.

One thing I would encourage you all to look at is Reality Check 2009 in Chattanooga, TN

Anchored in Truth Ministries is hosting the Reality Check Student Conference on June 29th through July 2nd, 2009 in Chattanooga, TN. You will benefit from 4 days of incredible teaching and wonderful fellowship. The speakers for Reality Check will include: Jeff Noblit, Paul Washer, and Paul Tripp, author of several books including Instruments in the Redeemer’s Hands. You guys and girls should strongly consider attending.

I’ll write more later. God bless all of you and I can’t wait to see you on Tuesday.

True Church Conference 2009 – Grace Life Church of the Shoals.

•February 19, 2009 • 4 Comments

Hello everyone … this is brother Anthony Battaglia. Vinh thought it would be a good idea to post from the True Church Conference of 2009. I will attempt to give updates as it is going on. The conference starts tonight and goes until Sunday with a line-up of speakers that is unbelievable.

The topic for this year is “The Wonderful Grace of Repentance”.  Brother Craig Gremillion and I drove up to Alabama yesterday from Baton Rouge. We wanted to arrive early so things wouldn’t be as hectic as last year. Last year we got here a day late and everything was rushed. This year, it is different … we got here early … checked into the hotel and had a decent nights sleep.

We just went to Grace Life Church of the Shoals ( www.fbcms.org ) to check in for the conference and had a chance to go through the bookstore! THE BOOKSTORE IS AWESOME. Seriously, I wanted every book in there … at least the ones I don’t have.

I did buy the DVD set of this years conference, so for all of you that would like to see the conference messages, we will have to plan some times to meet and watch them.

We will be starting tonight at 6:30. Conrad Mbewe is the first preacher … he is regarded as the “African Spurgeon” and is presently overseeing the establishment of 10 reformed churches in Zambia and Botswana.

Other preachers for this years conference include Voddie Baucham, David Miller, Jonathan Sims, Paul Washer and Jeff Noblit. You can read more about these guys at www.anchoredintruth.org or just google their names.

I look forward to sharing more with you as it unfolds. This years conference is going to be powerful and we are praying that God will use it mightily for His glory. Pray that these pastors, deacons and leaders in attendance would be encouraged and strive to build not big churches necessarily, but “true” churches for His glory. Their will be over 1000 leaders from all over the world in attendance this year.

God bless you all … talk to you soon.

Running The Race

•January 23, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Just a heads up, we will be having our Harvest jogging fellowship every Saturday. This week we will be meeting at the flagpoles at 9:30 am and then head out to the run.

The idea of running is not only beneficial physically but it can also help us understand the race that is set before us spiritually.

As described in Hebrews 12:1-2, we have a great cloud of witnesses (mainly from chapter 11) that show us by their life the road of peseverance in faith.

What better way to help understand better the author of Hebrews then to run. Hope to see you there!
